The concept of this scholarship fund was approved by the PSAD Board of Managers in 2012. The Scholarships will be awarded annually to qualified high school graduate applicants who are in need of financial assistance and the fund is to be held in perpetuity.
The intended purpose of the scholarship is to assist those deaf and hard of hearing who desire to pursue or enhance a career which focuses on the nurturing of deaf and hard of hearing children. This could include, but is not necessarily limited to, early childhood education, public school teaching, and social work.
General Scholarship Information
The scholarship is available not only to members of the Pennsylvania Society for the Advancement of the Deaf, but to the deaf and hard of hearing community at large.
Each year the Scholarship Committee will determine the amount of the award. The minimum award will be $1,000.
Community service and other activities and interests will weigh in the final decision.
All applications will be held in the strictest confidence.

All applications will be reviewed by the full Scholarship Committee. Following review by the full committee, a personal interview with each of the most qualified applicants will be conducted by a member of the Scholarship Committee.
Scholarships will be awarded in June.
