State Legislative Update
There are several legislative proposals that are of interest to PSAD members.
Below are some of the current measures that have been introduced in the
current [2008-2009] session of the Pennsylvania General Assembly.

MORE LEGISLATORS ANNOUNCE PLANS TO LEAVE OFFICE

Newest Members to leave the Pa. Legislature or run for new offices: Sen. Gerald LaValle (D- 47, Beaver, Lawrence, Allegheny) along with  Reps. Tom Petrone (D-27, Allegheny), Bob Bastian (R- 69, Somerset, Bedford), Ron Raymond (R- 162, and Delaware, Lisa Bennington (D-21, Allegheny). Connie Williams (D-17, Mont., Del.) and Rep. Daylin Leach (D-149, running for PA Senate) announced their intentions.

This makes 18 members out of 253 not running for their current positions in 2008 (7 D, 9 R; 4 Senate, 12 House).

Other members leaving or running for another office in 2008: Pa. Senators Gibson Armstrong, Roger Madigan, long with the following Representatives not running for the House again in 2008: Yewcic , Tangretti, Cappelli (running for Sen. Madigan's seat), Hershey, Steil, Nickol, Nailor, and Rubley.

In addition, Congressman John Peterson R-5, NW/NC PA) will not seek re-election in 2008.
